This is an exciting opportunity to join our Land Training business, supporting learners, instructors, and staff through the delivery of high-quality library and information services. You'll play a vital role in ensuring training resources are accessible, organised, and available to those developing the skills that support UK defence capability. As a Library Administrator, you'll be responsible for delivering customer-focused library and information services that support learning, training, and day-to-day operations at MOD Lyneham. Working within a collaborative team, you'll help maintain an efficient and professional library service, ensuring trainees, staff, and visitors can access the resources they need to succeed.
Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:
- Assist library users to access books, digital resources, and specialist information.
- Manage the issue, return, and administration of library materials, including course resources.
- Maintain accurate records through library management systems, stock control, and inventory checks.
- Support trainees and staff with computer access, printing, scanning, and online learning systems.
- Deliver library inductions and promoting library services to enhance engagement and awareness.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and is based on site at MOD Lyneham.
Essential experience of the Library Administrator
- Experience working within a library, learning resource centre, or similar customer-focused information environment.
- Experience delivering excellent front-line customer service and responding to user enquiries.
- Experience using ICT systems, databases, library management systems, and standard Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience undertaking administrative duties, including record keeping, data collection, and reporting.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively while managing competing priorities.
Qualifications for the Library Administrator
- GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths (literate and numerate)
- ECDL or equivalent ICT qualification, or demonstrable equivalent experience
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) and Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (EDBS) security clearance for this role.
