Summer 2027 Supply Chain Management Ops Internship

Southwest Airlines’ Supply Chain Management Ops Summer Internships span across several different Supply Chain Management Teams. If hired, Interns may be asked to support a variety of projects within one of the following Teams:
- Supply Chain Management Ops Intern (SCM Ops): The SCM Ops Intern is responsible for assisting in the oversight, upkeep, configuration and reliability of the procurement systems with a focus on Coupa, Ironclad, and SAP ERP. This Team supports the operational management of the Source to Pay (S2P) system and business processes within SCM and compliance. Provides end user support for internal Employees across the Enterprise. Provides troubleshooting and manages responses to ensure solutions are delivered on time, aligned with stated requirements, and comply with departmental standards.
- Tech Ops SCM Intern: The Tech Ops SCM Intern supports the Technical Operations Supply Chain team by assisting with procurement, inventory management, data analysis, vendor coordination, and process improvement initiatives. The Intern collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders to help ensure aircraft materials, parts, and repair services are available to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations while gaining exposure to airline maintenance and supply chain practices.
- Enterprise SCM (ESCM) Intern: The Enterprise Supply Chain Intern supports strategic sourcing, contracting, supplier management, reporting, analytics, and project initiatives across Southwest Airlines' corporate and commercial functions. The Intern partners with cross-functional stakeholders in areas such as Marketing, Innovation, Customer Experience, and other corporate or commercial teams to support competitive sourcing events, contract development and administration, supplier research, and process improvement. This role provides exposure to how business strategy, customer experience, innovation, and commercial objectives are translated into sourcing and contracting solutions.

- Join Southwest as a Summer 2027 Intern, with a 12-week internship lasting from May 18 – August 8, 2027.
- Pay of $21-$24 per hour, corresponding with progress toward degree.
- Stipends may be offered based on eligibility and program criteria.

Due to the nature of this role, you would be required to work from our Dallas, TX headquarters facility during business hours (2702 Love Field Drive).
- Dedicate 40 hours each week (maximum of 8 hours per day) to your internship responsibilities and tasks.
- Receive free, unlimited space available travel privileges for yourself (taxes and fees may apply on international travel).
- Interns will be provided any required equipment, such as a laptop, for the internship.
- U.S. citizenship or current authorization to work in the U.S. required and no current or future work authorization sponsorship available.

Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of Supply Chain Management Ops Intern may include, but are not limited to:
- Supports SCM COE in their implementation, management, and ongoing business process optimization in support of the Source to Pay technology platform and other procurement platforms.
- Assists with project management tasks (i.e., status tracking and reporting, issue documentation, follow-ups)
- Developing Safety Promotion, communication and training for the Pilot group pertaining to Safety related topics.
- Coordinating the analysis of data from internal and external databases (e.g., NASA, MITRE, ASIAS, ATSAP) for common reporting of incidents.
- Creates data visualizations in Tableau with assistance from senior team members.
- Support Supply Chain Management Department and Internal SWA Customers by providing reporting, analysis, and dashboard
- Work collaboratively with Team Members and across Supply Chain Management.
- Provide Level 1 with basic data and reporting issues.
- Monitors our intake request app with tracking new request
- Assist in testing system enhancements.
- May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders

- Preferred: Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel pivot tables, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Preferred: Experience with Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP
- Preferred: Experience with Tableau
- Preferred: Experience with cost analysis, root cause analysis, and forecasting
- Preferred: Familiarity with strategy surrounding AI
- Preferred: Skilled in writing computer programs for various purposes
- Preferred: Familiarity with strategy surrounding AI
- Preferred: Familiarity with resolving purchase order discrepancies
- Preferred: Experience with documenting processes, process flows, and general training content (e.g., Quick Reference Guides).
Basic Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
- You must have a valid U.S. Social Security Number to complete the full hiring process
Education
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required
- Progress toward a degree, major, or minor in Supply Chain Management, Information Technology Management, Systems Engineering, Business Administration, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Data Science, Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Advertising, Communication, Innovation, Entrepreneurship or similar degree required
- Preferred: Progress towards a 4-year undergraduate degree
- To be eligible, you must be currently enrolled as a full-time student (as defined by your university) at the time of application and during the internship
- Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA at the time of application
- Preferred: At least 3 semesters remaining at the time the internship ends
