Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman’s Defense Systems sector is looking for a Systems Engineering Manager 2 to be located in Manhattan Beach, CA and will support the Sentinel program where Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
What You Will Get To Do:
This is a Functional Home Room (FHR) manager position, involving both the overall functional oversight and management of an Systems Engineering group while maintaining a technical baseline of performance on program work. The candidate will spend ~20% of their time on functional/organizational support and ~80% of their time on a mix of technical program work from current/existing tasking, or potential future tasking. Functional management involves, but is not limited to, organizational administrative activities and helping employees’ performance and career development through guidance and training. Program responsibilities will be dependent upon programmatic technical work and may vary by individual.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 8 years of experience or Master's degree and 6 years of experience
- Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance at time of application with an investigation completed within the last 6 years
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
- 1+ year of experience developing requirements or verification using DOORS and/or Cameo
Preferred Qualifications
- Active DoD Top Secret with SAP clearance
- ICBM Experience
- Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience
- Experience managing programs or subcontracts in an Earned Value framework – Control Account Manager certified
- RF/networking communications background
- Strong understanding and broad application of engineering systems (engineering standards, configuration management, material review board, process control, tooling, facilities, software, etc.)
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities
- Demonstrated experience in making sound decisions in uncertain and difficult situations
- Experience leading a team of 5+ staff
