Job Overview and Responsibilities

Directs team in development and execution of the optimized plan that ensures functionally needed ground service equipment (GSE) and aircraft related facility equipment is in place at all United operated airports based on justified need. Includes modeled needs, justification and funding, acquisition, allocation, disposal and surplus equipment management. Includes over 20,000 GSE units and over 1,250 UA bridges and peripheral equipment.

• Manages optimum levels of surplus equipment, strategically placed around the system, for potential future needs ensuring operational viability, minimizing capital requirements.
• Optimizes revenue opportunities presented by unneeded surplus equipment through understanding and utilizing the marketplace while ensuring adherence to corporate policy.
• Coordinates movement of equipment between locations and scrapping of units as necessary; including arranging transportation and unit loading/unloading with third-party logistics providers.
• Manages the structure and processes that enable planners to efficiently and defectively support and maintain optimized, balanced GSE levels through equipment reallocation and acquisition.
• Defines and delivers on ground equipment requirements driven by new market opportunities and/or changes between mainline and express service.
• Manages definition and implementation of standards for aircraft schedule driven ground equipment needs through collaboration with Engineering team, standardized modeling and stakeholder reviews.
• Evaluates and implements ongoing value added system wide improvements to the fleet models.

• Ensures consistency across airports relative to modeling methodologies

• Ensure customer technical needs are responded to timely and accurately.
• Manages ongoing SOX physical inventory of system ground service equipment at all United locations based on corporate requirements and user requirements for maintenance of accurate inventory

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

• Bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant work experience
• Combination of field and staff leadership.
• Capital planning, financial analysis and/or large expenditure budget development and management.
• Minimum 2 years in ground equipment / facility maintenance operations maintenance operations or logistics management
• Strong business, interpersonal and financial skills.
• Cross organizational planning and functional integration.
• Demonstrated ability in stakeholder inclusion and consensus building.
• Team building and capability to lead technical staff in business and financial disciplines.
• Process development and improvement skills.
• Strong communication skill, both written and verbal
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
• Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
• Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

• Demonstrates an understanding of the capabilities and limitations of generative AI tools and effectively leverages them for research, analysis, content creation, and problem-solving. The base pay range for this role is $89,965.00 to $117,212.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
