Introduction
Are you curious about data, processes and supply chain? Does it energize you to work with subject matter experts to discover which insights truly move the business forward? Then this internship is for you!
At Component Services (CS), we make sure aircraft components are available worldwide for Air France-KLM and external customers. The Data, Transformation & Continuous Improvement (DTCI) department carries out change initiatives within CS and delivers the insights that help the company make better decisions.
You will spend most of your time in the Product Team of Component Services Business Intelligence (CSBI), learning how business questions and data turn into useful dashboards, reports and improvements. You will spend a smaller part of your time on project support and internal communication, so you also see how change is approached within the organization.
What are you going to do?
You will work under guidance and be given the space to learn, experiment and contribute your own ideas. Most of your internship (±80%) is about supporting the Product Team that delivers insights for the entire Component Services business. Your tasks include:
- Learning about the core processes of Component Services (Logistics, Commercial, Supply Chain and Repair) and helping to map and visualize them, for example with process models and data flows;
- Supporting the Product Owner and the Product Team, for example by making business requests transparent;
- Helping to test dashboards and reports;
- Experiencing how Agile/SAFe works in practice;
- Convert business processes into visual data models through diagrams like ERD's;
- Identify business needs and clarify requirements to maximize business value;
- Work with the development team to align business requirements into actionable user stories;
- Contributing to more data-driven decision-making within Component Services.
In addition (±20%), you support the full Project Board process. Every week, the management team discusses the progress of ongoing projects in this meeting. You help make sure this discussion runs smoothly, from preparation to follow-up:
- You prepare the Project Board meeting, including setting the agenda and collecting the presentation materials;
- You are the point of contact for all communication around the Project Board and manage the related mailbox;
- You keep track of the actions and decisions from the meeting, so everyone stays informed;
- You contribute to the internal communication of DTCI and CS, such as articles for the CS newsletter, and help think of ways to improve it;
- You help organize internal activities for the DTCI team.
Where do you land?
You will be based at Schiphol-East, at KLM Engineering & Maintenance (KLM E&M), the maintenance division of KLM. Together with Air France Industries, KLM E&M is a leading player in the global aircraft maintenance industry. Besides the KLM and Air France fleets, we maintain aircraft, engines and components for approximately 200 customers worldwide.
You will work at Component Services, the department responsible for the maintenance and availability of aircraft components. Within the DTCI team, you become part of a growing, international team with colleagues of different backgrounds and ages. This creates a dynamic environment in which you learn a lot from each other.
Your profile
We are looking for a University of Applied Sciences (HBO) or University (WO) student (Bachelor's or Master's) who is available from 1 February for a hands-on internship. Relevant fields of study include Business Administration, Business Analytics, Information Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, data/ICT-related programs, or a comparable study. You are:
- Curious and eager to learn, and you see feedback as a chance to grow;
- Analytical, with an interest in data, processes and finding the root cause of a problem;
- A strong communicator: you ask good questions, dare to share your opinion and write clearly;
- Organized, with good time management skills;
- A team player who can also work independently;
- Interested in logistics and supply chain;
- A Dutch speaker (required because of the communication tasks) and comfortable in English;
- Enrolled at a Dutch educational institution for the entire internship period;
- Available from 1 February, 4-5 days a week, for at least 6 months.
A plus, not a requirement: experience with Power BI, Excel, SQL, data analysis or process improvement, and an affinity with Agile, Lean Six Sigma or continuous improvement. You will learn this with us.
We offer
- A valuable learning experience with real responsibility in a dynamic organization, where you can develop strongly, both personally and professionally;
- Personal guidance from experienced colleagues, including from the Product Team;
- Insight into business analysis, data, supply chain, project management and communication in a single internship;
- A network within KLM, as you will sit down with many different KLM colleagues;
- Access to KLM Taxibaan, the association by and for interns, with events and excursions within KLM;
- A market-standard internship allowance.
Ready for your next destination?
Then don't wait any longer and apply for this function before the final boarding call on 11/04/2026! You don't need to write a cover letter; during your application we will ask you some specific questions. You will be notified within two weeks of the closing date of the vacancy.
Did you know that according to research, women are less likely to apply than men when they don't meet all the job requirements? What a shame. Because, in our view, 'the perfect candidate' is a myth. So, if you have the drive to grow in aspects of this role, we look forward to your application.
