Icelandair is seeking a strong and solution-oriented leader to manage our operations for the GSE Maintenance Services at Keflavík Airport. This is an exciting and challenging role in an international and dynamic work environment, where safety, professionalism, and excellent communication are the foundations of success.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the daily operations of the equipment workshop and manage a skilled team of technicians
- Ensure maintenance, service quality, and operational standards comply with Icelandair procedures, safety requirements, and service levels
- Oversee staffing plans, shift schedules, and task distribution in collaboration with supervisors
- Foster a positive, results-driven, and safety-focused workplace culture
- Identify improvement opportunities, propose corrective actions, and lead implementation of changes
- Monitor maintenance tasks, work orders, and ensure accurate documentation and completion
- Manage inventory, equipment, and workshop assets, including renewal planning and long-term maintenance strategies
- Maintain effective communication with other Icelandair departments and external service providers
- Carry out other tasks related to workshop operations and team leadership
Qualifications:
- Technical education in automotive mechanics, machinery, or a comparable technical field
- Proven experience in management or supervisory roles within a similar operational environment
- Knowledge of maintenance and operation of industrial or heavy equipment is an advantage
- Strong organisational skills, independence, and the ability to prioritise effectively
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead and motivate a team
- Good command of Icelandic and English, both written and spoken
- Solid computer skills and experience working with maintenance systems
- Strong safety awareness and a proactive approach to continuous improvement
- Valid driver’s license
