Kia ora!

Shape the financial strategy and resilience of one of New Zealand’s most recognised organisations.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the General Manager Corporate Finance (Corporate Finance Lead) is a senior leadership role with significant influence across Air New Zealand. You’ll lead the financial disciplines that underpin some of our most consequential decisions, spanning funding and capital management, investments, investor relations and financial risk.

Air New Zealand operates in a complex, capital-intensive global industry. With a significant funding portfolio, sophisticated debt and risk management requirements, and major long-term investment decisions, this role calls for exceptional financial judgement and the ability to navigate complexity with confidence. You’ll lead the Treasury, Investments, Investor Relations and Capital Management teams, providing trusted advice to the CFO, Executive team, Board, and other senior stakeholders.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Set and execute Air New Zealand’s Treasury policy and Capital Management Strategy, ensuring the organisation maintains financial resilience and capacity to deliver its long-term ambitions.
  • Lead the Group’s funding and debt management strategy, navigating complex capital requirements and maintaining access to competitive sources of funding.
  • Oversee fuel and foreign exchange risk management, balancing risk, opportunity and commercial outcomes in dynamic global markets.
  • Provide high-quality strategic and financial advice on significant investments, transactions, valuations and capital decisions.
  • Build and sustain trusted relationships across banks, investors, advisors and key industry participants, strengthening Air New Zealand’s position across financial markets.
  • Influence decision making at the highest levels of the organisation, bringing clarity to complex financial issues, risks and strategic trade-offs.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing Corporate Finance function, building deep capability and an environment where exceptional people can do their best work.

What you’ll bring

You’ll be an established senior finance leader with the credibility to operate at Executive level and represent Air New Zealand with confidence in external markets. Commercially astute and highly analytical, you’ll combine technical depth with sound judgement, strong relationships and a clear enterprise perspective.

  • Significant senior-level corporate finance experience, with depth across funding, capital management, financial markets, strategic finance and risk.
  • Deep knowledge of New Zealand debt markets and funding environments and/or significant global aviation experience with a strong understanding of its financial and commercial dynamics.
  • Sophisticated financial, quantitative and analytical capability, with the judgement to distil complexity and provide clear, commercially grounded advice.
  • Strong, established networks across relevant financial or aviation markets and a track record of developing trusted, long-term relationships.
  • The presence and influencing capability to work effectively with the CFO, Executive team, senior leaders, Board and sophisticated external stakeholders.
  • Experience leading specialist teams, setting a high performance standard and developing capability for the future.
  • Graduate and ideally postgraduate qualifications in Business, Commerce, Economics or a related discipline, or equivalent depth of experience.

We know leadership experience does not always follow a single path. If you bring the depth, judgement and perspective to make an impact in this role, we’d welcome your application.

Ready for take-off?

Few corporate finance roles offer this combination of complexity, scale and connection to a globally recognised New Zealand brand. You’ll have the opportunity to shape decisions with long-term significance for Air New Zealand, while leading a talented team and building relationships across financial and aviation markets.

If you’re ready to bring your financial leadership, commercial judgement and networks to an organisation with a unique place in Aotearoa and the world, we’d like to hear from you.
