About Your Business Area/Department
The Airports & Border Authorities Americas team drives growth by helping airports, governments, border agencies, cruise ports and other transportation stakeholders modernize passenger processing, airport operations, border control, biometrics, self-service and common-use infrastructure. We combine customer insight, solution expertise and disciplined bid execution to pursue strategic opportunities across the Americas.
Summary of the role
You will lead strategic and complex bids for Amadeus Airports & Border Authorities across the Americas, shaping winning strategies, coordinating cross-functional teams and partners, and managing customer engagement from early qualification through negotiation, contract award and a seamless transition to implementation.
In this role you’ll
- Lead the end-to-end bid process for strategic and complex opportunities, from pre-bid engagement and qualification through submission, negotiation, contract award and handover to implementation.
- Develop the bid strategy by understanding the customer’s business and commercial drivers, analyzing requirements, shaping a compelling value proposition and aligning the response with Amadeus strategy, financial objectives and approval processes.
- Build and lead virtual bid teams across Sales, Solution Management, Product, Delivery, Finance, Legal and other support functions, establishing the project plan, governance, deliverables, responsibilities and decision points.
- Act as a key customer contact during the bid, building credibility with senior stakeholders, preparing and leading formal and informal presentations, and coordinating the negotiation team during the pre-contract stage.
- Own the quality and completeness of the customer response, including compliance matrices, solution and service descriptions, partner contributions, commercial inputs, risk assessment and the management of non-conformities.
- Oversee multiple bids as required, communicate progress and risks clearly to senior management, escalate major issues, and ensure that decisions and approvals are obtained at the appropriate stages.
- Identify, evaluate and coordinate external partners and solution providers, including content delivery, commercial alignment and contracting support where required.
- Ensure a structured transition to the implementation team after award, with complete documentation and early-stage support to maintain continuity between the proposed solution and project execution.
- Promote bid-management best practices, coach less-experienced colleagues and recommend improvements to tools, processes, governance and ways of working.
About the ideal candidate
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Information Technology, Aviation, Project Management or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- At least 8 years of experience in bid management, proposal management, complex solution sales, pre-sales or a related commercial function, including leadership of large, multi-stakeholder responses.
- Proven ability to manage strategic RFP/RFI processes, compliance matrices, executive reviews, commercial approvals, customer presentations and contract negotiations.
- Strong project-management and stakeholder-leadership skills, with the ability to coordinate global and cross-functional teams without direct authority and to manage several priorities under firm deadlines.
- Commercial and financial acumen, including confidence working with business cases, pricing inputs, risk assessments, contractual terms and P&L considerations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to translate complex solution content into clear, persuasive and customer-focused messaging. Spanish and/or Portuguese is an advantage.
- Experience in airport technology, border management, aviation, transportation, government technology or other complex B2B/B2G environments is highly desirable.
- APMP, PMP or an equivalent bid/project-management certification is desirable but not required.
