Job overview and responsibilities


Individuals are selected for this role based on high-performance, high-potential and a willingness to lead and develop peers. They have direct oversight of daily operations to ensure the highest level of product delivery in accordance with Company guidelines and the United Leadership Model. Focus will be on coaching supervisors, frontline employees and/or administrative employees plus developing themselves as leaders. Recognized as experts in operational, administrative and technical areas of the operation.

The Assistant Manager will lead the Employee Dependability & Labor team for Airport Operations teams at George Bush Intercontinental Airport. This includes leading a team that is responsible for administration of the employee dependability process, supporting employees with wellness related requests, liaison with Human Resources and the Employee Service Center, and management of transitional duty assignments. The Assistant Manager will lead and conduct investigations, hold hearings, and train other managers and coordinators on company policies and processes.

  • Lead the team responsible for administration of the Airport Operations Employee Dependability & Labor processes at George Bush Intercontinental Airport
  • Provide supervisors and frontline with regular coaching, feedback and recognition as appropriate
  • Provide technical guidance and interpret Company guidelines and procedures to support employees in functional tasks and to ensure that safety, security and service are delivered consistently
  • Set expectations regarding performance standards for supervisors, frontline employees and/or administrative employees and gain their commitment in accordance with Company guidelines and union agreements (if applicable)
  • Maintain regular and prompt communication to include attending local meetings, townhalls, RAP sessions, e-mail/voicemail follow-up, and incident reports

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree and or 4 years of equivalent work experience
  • 2 years’ relevant experience in scheduling, payroll and performance management systems
  • Operational experience, with demonstrated understanding of day-to-day operational processes and requirements
  • Experience leading a team
  • Knowledge of operational policies and procedures including collective bargaining agreements, vendor management, finance, and resource planning.
  • Experience generating and analyzing reports, identifying trends, and using data to support operational decisions
  • Demonstrated track record of identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance operational efficiency
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively present information to various audiences
  • Ability to foster collaboration in a team environment
  • Adept at employing conflict resolution techniques, good decision making, active listening, and empathetic communication to address complex situations
  • Ability to work independently, effectively prioritize competing demands, and pivot and adjust to changing business needs
  • Strong proficiency in appropriate work group and office productivity software (i.e., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook)
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to coordinate and collaborate effectively with vendors, contractors, and other business partners
  • Ability to support and implement organizational changes while maintaining effective communication and operational continuity
  • Ability and willingness to travel minimally, as required by the position
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

  • Demonstrates an understanding of the capabilities and limitations of generative AI tools and effectively leverages them for research, analysis, content creation, and problem-solving. Applies critical thinking to validate AI-generated outputs while adhering to company policies related to responsible AI use, data privacy, and security.
  • Experience with procurement, station supplies management, and/or supply chain operations, including managing volumes, lead times, inventory, and supplier requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain reliable, on-time, and onsite operational support
  • Experience with budget management, invoice review, and invoice approvals
  • Experience supporting month-end and financial close processes, including forecasting, accruals, and financial reporting
  • Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial processes
  • Experience applying financial and economic concepts to operational planning, resource allocation, and business decisions
The base pay range for this role is $81,795.00 to $106,602.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
